Food For the Hills

Trail Food

Shop's own noodles- as a general rule are more packable than Super Noodles and cheaper- (carbs ahoy)
Shop's own pasta 'n' sauce (sealed lightweight packaged pre-cooked pasta is a god send)
Herbs/ seasoning/ chilli (mix your own blend) in a resealable freezer bag, to add a bit of taste to your camp stove meals.
tubed garlic (Schwartz does some but there are others) for the best luxury on trail
ready-meals in packets (found in the non-fridged section of most supermarkets- cheaper than most 'trail food'- like boil-in-the-bags, I know Waitrose does a good range)
Shop's own raisins (resealable pack), good snack food.
Dried fruit mix- the easiests, lightest and most packable method of staying full, and getting some vitamins

Seeds and nuts (mix your own- non-salt variety) in a resealable freezer bag.
Porridge oats pre-mixed with milk powder- (just add hot water) eg. Mornflake superfast oats
You can also get them premixed with fruit, or sugar, ideal for warm breakfasts. Nesquik is a good alternative
cereal bars- high energy, high carb food for on the go- or a quick breakfast. Jordans are pretty good, or shop's own, which are generally cheaper.
Packeted ready-made custard with fruit bits or flavoured, for an instant/ heatable pudding.
Packeted ready-made sponge pudding with sauce- can be eaten hot or cold (not in a can variety!)
Squeezy jam/ spread for your lunch
Digestives/ solid cheese biscuits- cheap, tasty, fibre high and good with a cuppa-
solid enough wrapped tight in foil
Liquorice/ boiled sweets - for when your knackered
Mints- refreshing, sugar rush
Sport body fuel powder to mix with water- or basic shop's own flavoured powder
Lucozade gels- emergency rations for instant energy
tea bags/ coffee in a feezer bag to keep them dry
