This is the newer version of the g2 ion where they've shaved 100g off the original. At 2.4kg it falls really into the 'lightweight' not 'ultralight' category of three season tents but 1.2kg each is hardly back-numbing stuff. And with that 200g each you get a solid bomb-proof semi-geodesic tent with a LOT more weather protection than others on the market, ideal for those looking for 3 seasons of British camping protection! (Although you might find it cool in windy conditions, according to lightwave, which is honest of them, which is due to the higher cut fly for extra ventilation in hotter climates, after all this is a backpacking tent.) I like the velcro attachments on the inside to tie around poles in more windy conditions (I used it to tie my XL lifeventure towel to the inner to block out the wind). The quality is excellent on this tent, with 3000mm (x2 inside and outside of fly) PU coated fly to stand up to a lot of wet. They are slightly thinner poles with this tent (8.5mm rather than the usual 9mm) but with three in a good solid structure Lightwave can afford to trim the weight with thinner poles. The guylines and pegs that come as standard are, again, excellent quality.
Downsides: The high-cut baseline, for watery conditions it's not the best but then when the sun comes out you don't bake like you would in a normal four-season tent (and the fly for this bad boy is four season cut).
It comes in at £275 which isn't the cheapest by any stretch but definitely good value, ideally suited for backpacking and low-level alpine work.
